The Darfur Schools Project is an innovative approach created by DPDO and inspired by the tremendous and enthusiastic involvement of U.S high school, college, and university students nationwide. Students and their respective institutions have the potential of playing a vital and pivotal role in rejecting the notion of passivity and inaction, responding to the desperate calls from children around the globe in Darfur to actively participate in building a better life for all.

Since February 2003 the people of Darfur have suffered a relentless genocide accomplished by systematic destruction of homes, agricultural land, food stores , livestock and wells, by decimation of indigenous culture through mass rape, torture and execution and by mass civilian displacement and confinement in grievously insecure camps. These abysmal conditions are being perpetuated by government obstruction of international relief efforts.
